Maintaining the Technological Advantage

Maintaining the Technological Advantage

How new technologies and changing business solutions enable Modelling & Simulation to meet the needs of current and future operations.

  • Environmental Modelling and Visualisation
Discussing the advances in environment modelling and current and future developments in visualisation and display technologies.

  • Human Behaviour Modelling
Training for urban operations (e.g. patrols, road-blocks, house searching) is highly relevant in today’s mission environment.  Addressing the advances in technology for natural interaction (e.g. gestures and speech) between trainees and realistically behaving simulated humans.

  • Augmented Reality to Enhance Live Training
Augmented Reality is an emerging technology in the domain of Live-Virtual-Constructive simulation integration and embedded training.  This session will discuss advances in the field of tracking motion and gestures, immersive display systems etc. Special focus will be on the use of AR to enhance Live training.

  • Advances in Serious Gaming
This session will look at advances and experiences in developing and applying serious game technology in support of modelling and simulation applications. The utilisation of COTS engines and tools are of special interest.

  • Virtual Task Training
Virtual Task Training plays an increasingly important role in platform sustainability, maintenance, procedural, operational and familiarization training.  This session presents solutions on new technologies leveraging reusable content and COTS methodologies to produce high quality, virtual task trainers.

  • Modelling and Simulation Other Than Training
The applicability of M&S can and does go far beyond training.  M&S products and technologies cut across all functions of military processes and have become extremely valuable decision-support tools. The purpose of this session is to highlight these other M&S applications.

  • Medical Simulation for Military Use
Preparing medical and non-medical personnel to provide Casualty Care under battlefield conditions is a challenging task. This session addresses the advances achieved in combat medical training with technology like human patient simulators and virtual patients.

  • Cyber Defence and Security
Digitised command and control systems have become increasingly important and critical success factors in the contemporary operational environment. This session will address the advances in M&S support to educate and train operators and decision makers in the defence against cyber threats.
