This theme will explore the considerations and characteristics associated with providing civil support, protection and disaster event management. These are three different, but interrelated topics that are driving an emerging trend in the use of military and civilian forces, assets and resources in support of civilian crisis response operations. Civil support, protection and disaster management are critical elements in a worldwide crisis response role.
NATO, European Union, United Nations, the Nations and Non-Governmental Organizations must all work together in a controlled and coordinated effort providing rapid and comprehensive support and sustainment for the varying international occurrences. Speakers will address issues with a focus on the relationship between the defence and civil sectors, and the ability of the defence and military sector to support the evolving requirements of this community. Broadly, this theme will include innovative technology, training approaches, organisational requirements and missions and lessons learned.
