Political Military Strategic Decision Making and its M&S support

10 September 2021
Human Factors and Performance in a Digital Twin Age

This paper describes how Modelling and Simulation (M&S) can support political military strategic decision making by analysing the NATO strategic decision-making process. It puts together M&S resources/tools and individual steps in  NATO strategic decision-making process.  It argues that creating a single synthetic environment is ineffective in supporting the decision-makers due to the different nature of the questions to be answered at political level. Instead, more specific M&S services that are tailored to the process should be implemented. Wargaming and its automation is discussed to explain a way of  reducing the human bias.
