Ben read History and International Relations at the University of Sydney and Sciences-Po Paris before joining the RAF. He has flown over 100 missions on operations on the Tornado GR4 over Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, and in ground advisory roles in Africa and Europe. In addition he was a flying instructor on the RAF's Advanced Flying Training course, flying the Hawk T1 from 2010-2013. He became a Typhoon FGR4 pilot in 2023. He has also served in the UK Ministry of Defence and NATO HQ in staff officer roles.
