James Kuht

jHubMed Fellow/RAF Medical Officer, jHubMed/Royal Air Force

James attended Welbeck College, then read Physiology and subsequently Medicine at the University of Oxford. During his Junior Doctor and GDMO years, he taught himself to code and created a cold injuries diagnosis app which used machine learning. James used this experience to create a coding & datascience upskilling scheme for Defence, the “jHub Coding Scheme”. Now funded by Commander Strat Com, it has over 1000 personnel enrolled on courses and 400 graduates, making it one of the largest AI upskilling efforts in the UK public sector.

James is passionate about democratizing digital skills across Defence, subscribing to John Boyd’s mantra; “People, Ideas, Tecnology. In that order.”. He now turns his focus to ensuring that these newly upskilled personnel are able to exploit their skills to maximally benefit Defence; whether that be recruitment to specialist IT units, or collaboratively developing software/datascience products for Defence.
