Colonel Lars Karlsson was assigned as the head of the Swedish Army exercise department in January 2019
Lars Karlsson joined the armed forces in 1983 and went through officers training and various assignments between 1985 to 1992 when he became a Captain. As a Captain and Major Lars Karlsson has served in the Mechanized Brigade and became a Lt Colonel in 2004 and server in the Armed Forces HQ. In 2014 he became a Colonel and was assigned to Chief of Brigade.
In 2008 Lars Karlsson attended the International Security Assistance Force, ISAF, Provincial Reconstruction Team, PRT, course at the German NATO school. In 2010 Lars Karlsson attended the international joint operations planning course (IJOPC) at the UK Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ).
Lars Karlsson has served twice in the International Security Assistance Force, ISAF, and his latest international assignment was as the Deputy Commander, DCOM, in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) sector West.
