Mr. Mark Lewis MSc, CEng, MRAeS, FHEA
Mark Lewis MSc CEng MRAeS is Head of Technical Capability at Nova Systems International and a Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in defence modelling and simulation, systems engineering, and technical leadership. He began his career as a Royal Navy Helicopter Engineer, providing him with a strong operational and engineering foundation that continues to inform his approach to simulation and synthetic training capability.
Mark is actively engaged in national and international modelling and simulation governance. He serves as Member At Large on the NATO Modelling and Simulation Group (NMSG), and co-chair of NMSG-232 supporting the development of NATO wide simulation policy, standards, and interoperability across Alliance nations. In the UK, he supports the MOD Defence Modelling and Simulation Centre (DMSC), contributing to the coherence and maturation of defence modelling and simulation capability.
Since 2023, Mark has acted as Technical Lead for the Royal Navy’s Spartan Programme, providing technical leadership and assurance for a major naval synthetic training and simulation programme. His work focuses on the integration of simulation based training systems, the exploitation of commercial off the shelf technologies, and delivery within complex, high assurance environments.
Alongside his professional roles, Mark contributes to defence education and skills development, having taught on the MSc Defence Simulation and Modelling at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. He is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, reflecting his commitment to professional development, mentoring, and the advancement of defence simulation capability.
